In 1997, a man named David adopted a black cat, unaware that its fur would eventually develop a marbled pattern. Recalling the moment he first met the cat, David shared, “Scrappy was sitting alone, and though he was beautiful, we didn’t think others would find him as cute as his siblings. I decided to take Scrappy home, knowing he might be the last to be adopted, if at all.”
As Scrappy aged, his black coat started to turn white, most likely due to a rare genetic mutation called vitiligo. Despite this change in appearance, the 19-year-old black and white cat remains happy, healthy, and full of sass. According to David, “Despite his age, he still scraps with the neighborhood cats… He truly rules the streets.”
Describing Scrappy as a total diva, David mentioned that the cat can be a challenge to photograph, often turning away or walking off. However, he emphasized his love for Scrappy and noted that the cat is very affectionate towards him. David is proud to be the only one allowed to rub Scrappy’s belly, and admires the beauty of his grumpy yet majestic feline companion.
Even though he was adorable, we didn’t believe that others would see him in the same light as his brothers and sisters.
I chose to adopt Scrappy because I had a feeling he might not get chosen by anyone else, or at least not be chosen for a while.
At the age of 7, the cat’s fur began to turn white, possibly due to a skin condition known as vitiligo.
This doesn’t have any impact on the cat’s well-being at all, and the 19-year-old senior feline is absolutely thriving!
Yeah, that’s the origin of his name: “Even though he’s old, he still competes with the local cats for scraps…”
“I suppose you could say he’s the king of the neighborhood”
“Scrappy is quite the star in his own right! He can be a challenge to photograph because he tends to be camera shy and often looks away from the lens…”
“He has his moments of being a bit cranky as well”
His loud meows often keep me awake throughout the night. It seems like he randomly decides to start yowling at odd hours, demanding to be let outside.
However, the man absolutely loves his furry companion and mentions that Scrappy shows a lot of affection towards him.
Only one lucky individual is allowed to give Scrappy belly rubs – and that person happens to be the man.
After laying eyes on the stunning and aloof ‘Nordic god’ feline, we can’t help but feel envious of its beauty!
